The Military Spouse Business Academy, MSBAcademy, was created as an extension of the Military Spouse Business Association.  The Military Spouse Business Association saw a need for providing educational support to military, Veteran and their spouses that want to start and/or grow their business.  The Board of Directors received official approval for such an organization from the IRS in September of 2014.  The 501(c)(3), private foundation non-profit named Military Spouse Business Academy, Inc.

Who Is MSBAcademy

We provide online educational awareness and tools to help you the military, Veteran and spouse entrepreneur, interested in starting and/or growing your business.
Registration and membership are open to active duty, reserve, retired, guard, Veteran and spouses. That applies to both enlisted and officer.
Resources that are offered by MSBAcademy:

  1. One-on-one Business Counseling or Small Business Incubator – For those looking for some extra assistance or guidance in any areas such as starting, operating and/or expanding your business.
  2. Community Support and Peer-to-Peer Mentoring – This program allows you to get some one-on-one guidance from a fellow business owners and ask them questions about operating a business. Please post your questions on our Facebook page.
  3. Legal Advisor – Do you have a legal question and could you use some extra insight?! Or maybe you are unable to access a local lawyer. Our volunteer legal team is ready to assist you.
  4. Accountant – Everyone has questions when it comes to taxes. Our volunteer Accountant is ready to help you!
  5. Membership Directory – Search through a list of current members. Are you looking to connect with fellow entrepreneurs in your local area?! Look no further!
  6. CONUS and OCONUS Tips – A list of tips to guide you in PCSing with your business. Please also know that we are always working to develop this comprehensive guide.

Meet Our Team

Rikki Winters
Rikki WintersOperations Director
Rikki Winters has been a member of the MSBA since October of 2007. Rikki also worked in support of the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act (MSRRA). She created the MSRRA Facebook Page and organized over 5,000 fans in calling Congress to voice their support for the bill. The combined efforts of the sponsors of the bill and the MSRRA Coalition turned the bill into law. Rikki worked with MSBA members and MSRRA fans to start the Military Spouses Coalition (MSC) Facebook Page. She is also MSBA’s current Webmaster.

Rikki owned and operated, All In One Desktops from 2007 to 2013. She co-owned HPSP Rentals from 2013 to 2015.

Rikki has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and is a Navy Spouse.

Veronica Jorden
Veronica JordenMarketing Director
Veronica Jorden joined the Military Spouse Business Association in November 2011. Her well-rounded approach to business and marketing stems from the “typical” and varied military spouse career path. She has experience in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, retail management, website development, social media and government service.

She is no stranger to entrepreneurship. As the founder and former owner of an online endeavor called “The Sensible Gourmet”. Since closing her business in 2008, she has endeavored to share the valuable “hard-knock” sales and marketing lessons learned with other small business owners.

A proud Army wife and mother of three who is heavily involved in her military community. She has been an Army Community Service Master Trainer since August of 2010 and has also served as FRG Leader, Battalion FRG Advisor, and Army Ball Planning Committee Member.

Talisa C. Porch is a retired First Sergeant, Senior Advisor with 21 years of experience in business management, operations, analytics, training, project management, government contracting and logistics. She currently holds the President/CEO position at Connected Minds Enterprise (CME), Management Consulting & Professional Services. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, a General Studies degree from Central Texas College and is currently working to complete her Master’s in Business Management by fall 2016. She is a qualified facilitator/trainer bringing enthusiasm and excitement to every learning experience she creates.

Lynn Carroll is a legal assistant/paralegal who has earned the Certified Professional Legal Secretary designation and successfully completed the Certified Legal Assistant exam. Her career experience includes working with solo attorneys and small firms as well as governmental entities. In 2002, Lynn started a virtual legal assistant firm, Carrollegal, providing legal support services to attorneys, lenders and title companies across the country. She has served in a volunteer capacity as a Family Readiness Group (FRG) Leader, a Battalion FRG Advisor, and on various committees charged with improving quality of life for military families, including Army Family Action Plan local and mid-level conferences. She lives in Virginia with her husband, LTC Steve Carroll, and two children.
Virginia Gibson

Virginia Gibson is the CO-Principal of SUSTAP (Sustainable Technologies & Products) and the CEO of Reliant Water Management, Woman / Native American Owned Companies. She has been in the green energy & water treatment industry for over 20 years.

SUSTAP is one of only a handful of woman-owned companies in the entire Nation who are currently approved as federal contractors in the facility support services, solar, LED lighting water filtration, air filtration & green energy category.

Serving the federal & commercial facilities, ship/marine industries. Working with local, state and federal agencies on a national and international scale. Gibson is an expert in these industries, partnering with the U.S. EPA, U. S. NAVY, BAE, DLA, Navy Crane Warfare, SPAWAR, Sea Port E, other agencies & organizations while overseeing the implementation of environmentally responsible products.

Ms. Gibson has served on the local non-profit boards of (The Association for Facilities Engineering) as a National Board Member, Navy League (SF, Santa Clara & Lake Merritt Navy League Councils, Legislative Liaison & National Director), Military Spouse Business Association Board & is a member of her local post of SAME (The Society of American Military Engineers), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating Refrigeration & Air-conditioning), RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Assoc.)

WONN Women Owned Networking National Member, National Kidney Foundation and is a living kidney donor.
